Richmond Hill Swimming Lessons

Private Swimming Lessons in Richmond Hill

Facility Location

We are located in Richmond Hill just off Stouffville Road, between Bayview & Leslie. It is an outdoor, private, salt-water, pool that is 13M long and has a deep end that allows for safe diving. Saltwater swimming pools draw on dissolved salt in the water to generate chlorine. The salt cell or generator utilizes a process called electrolysis to break down or separate the salt also known as sodium chloride or NaCl in the water. The pool is maintained at expected levels, daily.

There is covered seating for waiting parents and, if siblings are present and waiting for their lesson to begin, they can make use of the trampoline (netted) and play structure. Parents will be required to sign a waiver for use of these facilities as the insurance for the school does not cover these activities.

Phoebe Webster

As a Certified Life Saving Society Instructor, I have worked with Homeschooled Swimming for three years, and this will be my second year leading the program at our Richmond Hill location. As we have for the last five years, I look forward to continuing to work with families one-on-one, providing the individualized programming and attention that has earned us a reputation of success in developing confident, skilled swimmers at all levels.

Pricing and Booking

Booking Instructions:

We have integrated a new booking system this year called Jackrabbit that will streamline the booking of classes and allow each swimmer's progress to be tracked after daily lessons, keeping everyone in touch with their progress.

Step 1:
Click the link below and complete the registration form. This is to get your family signed up with Jackrabbit. Note: During this step, payment is saved, but does not process. In order to process any payments due, you will have to access the parent portal (outlined in step 2), logging in with the credentials you created when registering.

While you can sign up for initial classes with this step, you do not need to since the parent portal (step 2) gives you a more organized view of what's available. A link to the parent portal will be sent with your registration confirmation email.

Step 2:
Once registered, use the link in the confirmation email to access the parent portal (also shared below). Please bookmark this link; this is where you will see progress updates along with payment information and balances due. Log in with the account information created during the registration process. A receipt will be sent once the class has been booked, and payment has been processed.

Reminder: payments do not process during the registration step. Logging into your account via the parent portal is where payments must be processed.

Cancellation & Refunds

Instructors are fully vaccinated however, should the instructor be in any way unwell, we will not risk working with students.

Should your child be unwell, we ask that you take the same precaution and cancel the class. We will offer a rescheduling of class in these cases but can not guarantee the timing of the make-up class. Refunds can not be given for classes missed due to illness; they will be rescheduled.

Classes are only cancelled due to weather if there is lightning expected or significantly heavy rain that might make learning difficult. Colder temperatures will not result in a cancellation of lessons. The pool is kept at 84F/26.7C which ensures students are never cold in the water.

Health & Safety

We are always vigilant with safety. Students are never out of reach and they will never be asked to work beyond the expected challenge of their current swimming level.

The instructor will:

  • Clean and sanitize any equipment used by a student prior to the next student’s arrival. While pool chlorine is a virus neutralizer, all lifejackets, flutter boards and pool noodles will be sprayed with a sanitizing solution after each use. There will be a 15-minute time gap between each family to ensure this step is completed thoroughly.
  • Commit to maintaining the pool water at the appropriate chemical levels.
  • A NOTE ABOUT BACKYARD POOLS: We are incredibly fortunate to have a beautiful, breezy, garden with trees and flowers surrounding the pool. While this makes for a lovely setting for our lessons, it also means that leaves are often blown into the water throughout the day. Every effort is taken to pick them out but it can be hard to keep up. Rest assured that, even if there are some leaves or pollen on the surface, our pool salt levels are always kept in balance to produce chlorine at an effective level, and these levels are checked multiple times a day. We appreciate your understanding.

The student will:

  • Be forbidden from spitting or spouting water while in the pool or on the deck. If this occurs the lesson will be stopped immediately.
  • Bring personal equipment such as goggles should they be preferred. No goggles will be provided by Homeschooled Swimming.
